Just wanted to share this forum I joined about a month ago. I was researching HEALTHY hair care, and I found a book by Cathy Howse. Her site is awesome and filled with lots of information. I want my long hair back, without having to make trips to the hair store to buy it.

Through her site, I found the Long Hair Care Forum.

The knowledge & experience of these women is incredible! Because of this site & Cathy Howse's book, my hair has grown 2" in two months. What's awesome is that most of the hair care advice is what my nana did to my hair as a child. I could go on (probably will later), but I have work to do. FYI - this site is for women who have highly-textured, ethnic hair.
FOR EVERYONE, I started researching the ingredients that I put on my hair, and came across jojoba oil. I put it on me & my man's hair. It's tamed his dandruff, and brought back the lovely sheen to his hair. It's cemical makeup is that of sebum, the oils found in everyone's skin & scalp, so it absorbs nicely without weighing the hair down.
He's been researching healthy long hair care for his clients as well, and I found these sites:
www.tlhs.org/xtra.html Pics of seriously long hair.
www.longhairgroup.com/home_2.htm
www.longhairlovers.com/ This site looks supercool, check out the Library, too.
www.longhairloom.com/
BTW, that wasn't my announcement. Just wanted to share... Seriously gotta get back to work now.
I've missed you all!!!!

Re: Long Hair Care Forum
Thu, November 30, 2006 - 12:20 PMThank you so much for the links! My hair has broken off badly these past few months, especially in the back. I'm going to try some of these methods to see if I can get my length back. -

Thu, November 30, 2006 - 1:19 PMNo problem!! I had hella breakage, too. One of the things I learned is how to RETAIN the length I grow, which is stopping/minimizing breakage. Feel free to write me for the ingredients of this homade pre-shampoo. It works miracles! My hair feels like hair again!! -

Sun, December 3, 2006 - 2:33 PMThank you for this as well. I read this book years ago and lent it to someone and forgot about it.
Shame on me for forgetting to look this up, as she lives here and knows all about dryness and breakage.
Threw out the brush and now I will ALWAYS use a deep reconstructuring conditioner for at least 30 minutes.
It has made a difference and my new hairdresser is impressed. -

Re: Long Hair Care Forum
Tue, December 5, 2006 - 7:05 AMI tried to go without my brush for 1 week, and nearly lost my mind. My hair is entirely too thick - especially when it's relaxer time! I did learn how to baby my hair and not tear through it, though.
I loved Cathy's book but needed more because I know everyone's hair is different. Plus, I was on the hunt for homemade treatments. Cathy's methods are working wonders for my mom, though! Just gotta get her still long enough to do the deep conditioning! LOL
